21 year old woman went to defendant clinic for a minor surgical procedure (therapeutic abortion), under general anesthesia. Plaintiff suffered a respiratory arrest shortly after the procedure due to excessive use of anesthetic. Defendant obstetrician, nurse anesthetist and nurses were negligent in their resuscitation efforts by failing to promptly defibrillate her, and otherwise treat her condition, leading to cardiac arrest. As a result, she suffered severe and permanent brain damage due to lack of oxygen.
