Medical Malpractice: Brain damage
Hung Jury

7 year old child went to hospital for acute appendicitis surgery, but developed a small bowel obstruction post-operatively. She had to be re-operated on. Post-operatively, she suffered a cardio-pulmonary arrest. Although she was resuscitated, she suffered brain damage from lack of oxygen. (The jury was deadlocked, 8-4 in favor of the plaintiff. Case settled thereafter for $1,000,000).
