Plaintiff, a 55 year old woman developed signs and symptoms of a mild stroke with speech difficulties but no motor deficits. Her blood pressure was elevated. CT and MRI revealed infarction, but no hemorrhage. Defendant sent patient home from hospital in less than 24 hours without anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs. Over the next 3 days, her symptoms worsened, leading to paralysis of right side and absence of speech.
