Medical Malpractice (Blindness)
Settlement: $950,000.00

Plaintiff was an achlondroplastic dwarf with a history of shunt-dependent hydrocephalus. In late March, 1994, she developed headaches, then visual changes. She went to defendant neurosurgeons and neurologists, who failed to promptly diagnose and treat shunt malfunction. Despite a normal MRI shunt had malfunctioned causing increased intracranial pressure. Plaintiff was transferred to another facility, where further delay occurred. By the time shunt malfunction was diagnosed, she developed optic atrophy and permanent blindness.
