Mother had placenta previa and went to defendant obstetrician. When placenta previa bled, mother had C-section, delivering premature infant at approximately 32 weeks gestation. Being premature, the baby had an increased risk of necrotizing enterocolitis. Nurses failed to report findings (e.g., ---- positive stool; feeding intolerance) to physicians. Physicians in turn, failed to respond appropriately to worsening condition. Baby's bowel perforated, causing shock and cerebral hemorrhages.
